To coincide with the Cindy Sherman retrospective at The Museum of Modern Art and the publication of Cindy Sherman: The Early Works, 1975–1977, Catalogue Raisonné, Parsons presents a lecture covering Sherman’s extensive, prolific career.
Gabriele Schor, author of the catalog, discusses Sherman’s early works. Eva Respini, curator of MoMA’s Cindy Sherman exhibition, explains the connections between Sherman’s early and more recent work, emphasizing the central place of identity, feminine roles, and the artifice of photography in her artistic practice.

Eva Respini is an associate curator at The Museum of Modern Art in New York and has organized numerous exhibitions on contemporary art and photography. She is the author of Cindy Sherman and Into the Sunset: Photography’s Image of the American West, co-author of Fashioning Fiction in Photography since 1990, and a contributor to other museum publications.
