Care Congress NYC
Sunday 03 June, 2012
2 - 5pm, $0/Rsvp
Pace University
1 Pace Plaza
Our city is both an exciting and challenging place for carework. As one of the fastest growing industries in NYC and around the country, care work remains widely unregulated, underpaid, and unstable for people giving and receiving care. Caring Across Generations--a broad coalition of domestic workers, elderly and disabled people, faith organizations, and labor justice groups--has organized Care Congresses all over the country to call attention to these facts. Now it's New York's turn.
Please join us for a Town Hall event on Sunday, June 3rd 2pm - 5pm at Pace University
Program Topics include:
* Domestic workers' living wage
* Care stories of formal and informal carework
* Transforming the care elders and disabled people receive
* Carework in America and immigration
* Protecting SSI, Medicaid, Medicare, and America's safety net
Free food, interpretation, and childcare will be provided.
