The legendary film critic reads from his new work, Film After Film.

On June 5, in celebration of BEA, powerHouse Arena will host some of NYC’s best indie publishers and literary organizations within walking distance. Join n+1, Verso Books, Melville House, and Cave Canem for an evening of readings and mingling. Beer and wine will be served.

J. Hoberman served as the senior film critic at The Village Voice from 1988 to 2012. He has taught at Harvard, NYU, and Cooper Union, and is the author of eleven books, including Film After Film, Bridge of Light, The Red Atlantis, and The Dream Life.

Alice Gregory is a writer living in New York. Her work has appeared in n+1, New York, the New York Observer, and the Boston Globe.

For Cave Canem

Nicole Sealey's work has appeared in a number of journals including Callaloo, Sou’wester, The Drunken Boat, and Torch. She holds a Master of Liberal Arts from the University of South Florida. Additionally, she is the Readings/Workshops (East) and Writers Exchange Program Manager at Poets & Writers, Inc. as well as a Hedgebrook alumnae.

For Melville House

Leigh Stein, a former New Yorker staffer and frequent contributor to its “Book Bench” blog, has had poetry published in numerous journals, been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, and is the recipient of Poets & Writers Magazine’s Amy Award. She lives in Brooklyn, where she works in children’s publishing and teaches musical theater to elementary school students. Her book of poetry Dispatch from the Future will be available summer 2012.
