Join the immensely talented Joshua Ferris for the launch of his third novel, To Rise Again at a Decent Hour. From the author of the PEN/Hemingway Award-winning And Then We Came to the End comes another brilliant, daring, and funny story of identity crisis, alienation, and the absurd trappings of modern ambition —a steady income, the perfect morning macchiato—in a world without faith. Readings from the novel followed by audience Q&A.
To Rise Again at a Decent Hour follows a 40yr old Manhattan dentist as he discovers Facebook and Twitter pages created in his name, and worries that the online 'Paul' may be a better version of himself. In the midst of his identity crisis, Paul must face questions of the meaning of life, the nearness of death, and the importance of good oral hygiene.
Joshua Ferris is the author of Then We Came to the End, which won the PEN/Hemingway Award, was nominated for the National Book Award, and longlisted for the Guardian First Book Award, and The Unnamed. In 2010 he was selected for the New Yorker's prestigious '20 under 40' list. He lives in New York.
