Artist Amy Sillman joins GC art historian David Joselit for a conversation about, among other things, the role of humor in painting and its often comedic process. Sillman talks about improvisation, awkwardness, and as she puts it, “the unknowing-ness, and nearly comic failures that can be part of how you make a painting.” Sillman’s work has been shown at prestigious institutions, including the MoMA, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
